In my opinoin shockabsorbers are more responsible for a poor roadholding than Springs. If you've got still the old shocks mounted then change to any kind of new ones and it will get better.

If you want to lift the body up new springs are necessary. Springs of old Opels are likely to break, so check if they're ok.
